In a divine narration by Baba Shri Raj Mahajan Ji, a spiritual teacher and revered guide, the story of Hanuman Ji’s encounter with Vibhishan in Lanka comes alive with deep meaning, grace, and bhakti (devotion). Through this compelling discourse, Guru Shri Raj Mahajan Ji reveals profound spiritual lessons wrapped in the timeless tale of Shri Ram’s unwavering grace and the unwavering faith of his devotees.

Hanuman Enters Lanka: A Mission of Devotion

As Hanuman Ji lands in Lanka in search of Mata Sita, he is first confronted by Lankini, the guardian of the city. Upon receiving a divine blow from Hanuman, she realizes the prophecy and grants him entry, acknowledging his purpose—to fulfill the mission of Lord Ram.

Once inside Lanka, Hanuman Ji witnesses grand palaces and fierce warriors everywhere. He peers into one palace after another, searching for Sita Ji. Eventually, he arrives at the opulent palace of Ravana, where the demon king lies in a drunken slumber. Yet, Sita Ji is nowhere to be found.

A Palace Unlike Any Other

Narrator Baba Shri Raj Mahajan Ji beautifully describes the moment when Hanuman Ji spots a unique palace—one that appears unlike any other in the demonic land of Lanka. This palace has a temple within it, adorned with symbols of Shri Ram’s bow and arrows, and surrounded by flourishing Tulsi plants—an unheard-of sight in a city filled with rakshasas.

Struck with awe, Hanuman Ji wonders, “Who could this noble soul be in a city like Lanka?”

Meeting the Devotee: Vibhishan

As Hanuman Ji contemplates the mystery, Vibhishan awakens in the palace and begins chanting “Ram, Ram, Ram…” loudly and with heartfelt devotion. The divine vibrations reach Hanuman Ji outside, confirming that a true bhakt (devotee) resides here.

Taking the form of a Brahmin, Hanuman Ji enters and begins reciting the glories of Shri Ram. Vibhishan, drawn by the sweet sound of Ram’s name, comes out to meet the stranger. He is filled with joy and reverence, believing perhaps this Brahmin is Ram Himself, having come to bless him.

Vibhishan, unaware of Hanuman Ji’s true form, humbly inquires if the Brahmin is one of Ram’s devotees—or perhaps even Ram in disguise—moved by the sudden surge of divine love he feels in his heart.

A Humble Servant of Ram

At this point, Hanuman Ji reveals his true identity—not through pride, but through bhakti. He says, “The story is not mine; the story belongs to Shri Ram. I am merely a servant. The pain I carry is nothing compared to the divine joy of narrating Ram Katha.”

Both Vibhishan and Hanuman Ji are filled with bliss as they rejoice in the memory of Lord Ram’s virtues. Vibhishan confides in Hanuman Ji, explaining his struggle: living like a tongue among teeth, surrounded by rakshasas. He wonders aloud, “Will Ram ever accept a being like me, born of a demonic lineage, without strong devotion or spiritual merit?”

But Hanuman Ji reassures him, saying that the Lord’s love is not bound by birth or background, but by devotion and sincerity. “This is the nature of Shri Ram,” says Hanuman Ji. “He always shows love to his true servants.”

Grace Knows No Caste or Creed

Guru Shri Raj Mahajan Ji, in his narration, emphasizes the essence of this moment: the Lord never sees caste, lineage, or worldly merit. Just as He accepted a mere monkey like Hanuman as His most trusted messenger, He is ever willing to embrace Vibhishan, the outcast of his own kind, as a brother and friend.

Hanuman Ji humbly shares, “Who am I? A restless, low-born monkey. Yet Ram graced me. If He can grace me, He can grace anyone.”

This conversation lays the foundation for Vibhishan’s eventual surrender to Shri Ram—a turning point in the Ramayana and a symbol of the Lord’s inclusive love.
